The Clarion Choir continues its endeavor to perform all of the major choral works of Sergei Rachmaninoff in celebration of the composer’s 150th birthday. The finale of this project will be a rare performance of the Spring Cantata, ‘Vesna,’ for orchestra, chorus, and baritone, together with Three Folk Songs for orchestra and chorus and the stirring Piano Concerto No. 3 in D minor with Ilya Maximov as soloist. The Three Folk Songs is one of the composer’s last major works, both haunting and beautiful.
