The Clarion Orchestra, one of our city’s most renowned period-instrument orchestras, will perform music composed during and after past pandemics. Cynthia Roberts leads the ‘polished’ (New York Times) Clarion band in the music of Henry Purcell and Johann Schmelzer. These early 17th-century composers inspire us as we come out of the pandemic, having composed some of their most glorious music during the plagues in Austria and England.
