Russian Baroque program at the prestigious Aston Magna Festival: Led by Steven Fox, Clarion performs music from the court of Catherine the Great by Russian and Italian 18th-century composers, Galuppi, Bortniansky, Sarti, Berezovsky and Fomin. This program was performed by Clarion in May of 2007 at Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall and hailed by David Moore of the American Record Guide.

Bach Christmas Cantatas, December 10, 2008, St. Mary the Virgin, Times Square
In a month full of Messiahs, this December Clarion will be presented by the Miller Theatre of Columbia University in a Bach Christmas program including two cantatas from the Christmas Oratorio as well as his cantata, Ich freue mich in dir, BWV 133 with soloists Jolle Greenleaf, soprano; Oliver Mercer, tenor; and Doug Williams, baritone.

Clarion-Collegium Week, February 18-26, 2009
For the second year in row, Clarion teams up with Andrew Parrott and the New York Collegium for a week-long series of concerts, master classes and lectures on Baroque performance practice. This year, we hope to enlarge the format slightly and bring in students from colleges and conservatories from all over the Eastern seaboard. Master classes will once again be given in voice by Andrew Parrott, violin by Robert Mealy, cello by Myron Lutzke, oboe by Stephen Hammer, keyboard continuo by Dongsok Shin and chamber music by Cynthia Roberts. This year has an Italian Baroque theme for the masterclasses, concerts and lectures: 'Italians Abroad: Scarlatti, Vivaldi, Geminiani and Caldara."

Orchestral Music from the Era of Catherine the Great, May 6, 2009, 8pm, St. Michael's Church, 99th and Amsterdam Avenue
Clarion continues its exploration of the riches of the court of Catherine the Great. This concert features discoveries from this period by Music Director Steven Fox, including the first Russian symphony by Maxim Berezovsky (1745-1777), and the harpsichord concerto by Dmitri Bortniansky (1751-1825) with soloist Ilya Poletaev.

Clarion performs excerpts of Mozart's most beloved operas, including Don Giovanni and Cosi fan Tutte in the University Club to support Brain Cancer Research. Soloists for this performance include tenor Rufus Mueller and soprano Jessica Gould.

The Clarion Legacy

Clarion Music Society is one of New York's leading period instrument orchestras. Founded in the fall of 1957, by philanthropist Thomas Newbold Morgan and conductor Newell Jenkins, Clarion was a pillar of the New York musical community, performing regularly at Alice Tully Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, and Carnegie Hall with national and international soloists that included Justino Diaz, Patricia Wells, George Shirley, Elaine Bonazzi, Eleanor Steber, Maureen Forrester, John Reardon, Kim Borg, and even Anna Russell. Jenkins and Clarion also recorded on the Vanguard and Newport Labels.
